“Tony Zillig introduced me to my now business partner Phil Dudman”
In late 2009 Dan Abbink approached the Northern Rivers BEC with a unique concept based upon the hugely successful Landshare UK website launched last year by celebrity chef and ethical food warrior Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (River Cottage), booming with over 57,000 growers, landowners and helpers registered to date. The concept provides a social networking service that introduces people with spare land to others wanting to grow fruit and vegetables, but with nowhere to do it.
Phil Dudman, well known garden guru and media celebrity subsequently co-founded Landshare Australia with Dan. A lot of hard work has resulted in the launch of the scheme set for Thursday January 27th at the Lismore Community Gardens.
“We plan to make Landshare Australia one of the leading websites for any Australian gardener not only providing the matchmaking service, but allowing them to chat with other growers, get the very best growing advice from our veg doctors and download ‘how to’ guides,” says Phil.
Dan originally approached the Northern Rivers BEC seeking advice on business structure, local industry groups and contacts. Additionally we were able to refer Dan to local legal small business specialists for assistance. “I really appreciated the advice and assistance Tony was able to offer” said Dan. What proved to be of great value was that Tony introduced me to my co-founder and business partner Phil Dudman”.
Landshare Australia is looking for supporters to help spread the word – tell your friends – and sponsors to help it all happen. If you would like to find out more about sponsorship opportunities email Dan at info@landshareaustralia.com.au or visit www.landshareaustralia.com.au
